RH shows innovative inland shipping console at Construction & Shipping Industry

April 11 2008

Radio Holland will be present at the exhibition Construction & Shipping Industry (6 – 8 May, Evenementenhal Gorkum), showing the latest electronics for inland shipping including an innovative navigation console for inland vessels.

The Navigation Console is a good example of the balanced range of navigation and communication equipment that Radio Holland offers to the inland shipping market. The equipment in the console is built behind stylish glass panels, which makes the bridge a real eyecatcher. The console shows amongst others the RZ PAD pilot. The unique PAD pilot plots the exact path the vessel will follow on an electronic chart display with radar overlay.

Radio Holland also shows the RZ Docking system: an innovative docking system specially designed for inland vessels. Together with manufacturer Radio Zeeland, Radio Holland developed this system with the input, experience and wishes of the inland shipping customers. The Docking System indicates the exact distance to the shore, which means it is no longer an estimation, but an exact calculation. With this system, damage to the vessel and quay can be avoided.

The RZ Conning system gives a digital representation of the vital navigational instruments on a single display such as rate of turn indicator, the rudder angle indication compass, wind speed and direction. Also specific data such as the status of the mooring poles can be presented on the conning display. With the RZ Conning system space for instruments is saved and an integrated navigation console concept is realized.

Another feature of the navigation console is the special inland shipping Nauticast AIS-transponder. The Transponder sends and receives information about course, speed, number, name of the vessel, etc. and displays this information  on  a connected Inland ECDIS chart display. Also the Smart Display is part of the console. This latest innovation of Orlaco shows multiple camera’s on one computer display.

During the  exhibition, visitors can meet  the RH inland shipping crew; Erik van Boom,  Jasper van der Zwan, David ten Westenend and Elza van Heerde at the Radio Holland stand.
