34 million euro orders for technology solutions on board luxury (mega) yachts

May 6 2009

Imtech (technical services provider in Europe and on the global marine market) has recently acquired orders from various ship owners and shipyards in Europe, USA, Canada and the Far East for technological solutions on board a number of luxury (mega) yachts. These orders represent a total value of more than 34 million euro.

Recently, Imtech Marine Group (the marine division of Imtech) has acquired orders for technology solutions on board luxury (mega) yachts ranging from 20-25 metres to almost 90 metres long. Radio Holland is part of Imtech Marine Group and also a well-known supplier of state-of-the-art technology to (mega) yachts. The orders involve integrated and automated ships’ bridges, energy solutions, propulsion, platform automation & control software, electrical solutions, high-tech multimedia solutions, alarms & monitoring systems and navigation & communication systems.

Broad scope leads to continuity

Although the luxury (mega) yacht market is showing some hesitation as a result of the credit crisis, Imtech Marine Group – as one of the strongest globally operating marine players – is able to create continuity in the market. On the one hand, this is due to the broad geographic scope Imtech uses to serve this market, from its maritime competence centres in Europe, USA/Canada and the Far East. On the other hand, the wide and comprehensive technological spectrum of services offer good opportunities for a complete package of technical services to a broad composition of international customers. In this process the several business units of Imtech Marine Group are co-operating. These business units are: Imtech Marine & Offshore (energy, ships’ bridges, platform automation, electrical solutions), Radio Holland Group (navigation & communication, connectivity & IT, maintenance services), Van Berge Henegouwen (multimedia solutions, ICT infrastructures), Imtech Marine Germany (ships’ bridges, platform automation, electrical solutions), Imtech Schiffbau/Dockbautechnik (energy, air and climate technology) and Free Technics (software).

Strong position

In the global marine market, Imtech (Imtech Marine Group) is an independent, full-service, technical services provider with a worldwide service network of more than 70 locations in over 20 countries, along all of the important global shipping routes and nearby important ship-building centres. Imtech Marine Group counts 2,250 employees and serves all segments: luxury (mega) yachts, naval ships (frigates, corvettes, patrol boats and submarines), special ships (dredgers, oil tankers, jack-up barges and workboats), offshore drilling platforms, passenger ships and inland vessels.
