Gouda, the Netherlands – The Board of Management of Imtech (technical services provider in Europe and in the global maritime market) announces the appointment effective 1 November 2009 of Eric van den Adel (47) as Managing Director of Imtech Marine Group and as a member of the Imtech Executive Council, the highest management level within Imtech. Eric van den Adel, a chartered accountant, has already been working for Imtech since 2002 and is currently Director of Finance & Control at Imtech Marine Group. In his new position he succeeds Harry Siertsema, the former and recently deceased Managing Director.

With annual revenues in excess of 500 million euro and 2,400 employees, Imtech is one of the strongest players in the global maritime market and an independent full-service provider of integral solutions for platform automation, propulsion (including electrical propulsion), energy generation/distribution, communication/navigation, integrated ships bridges, air and climate technology, and multimedia entertainment.

Imtech has a global network consisting of more than 70 sites in more than 20 countries along all major global shipping routes and at important shipbuilding centres. Imtech has hundreds of customers and is active in all market segments: yachts (including mega yachts), naval vessels (frigates, corvettes, patrol vessels and submarines), special ships (dredgers, oil tankers, lifting vessels and floating workshops), offshore platforms, commercial vessels, passenger ships and inland vessels.

Van den Adel will hold overall responsibility for the further growth and expansion of Imtech in the global maritime market, among other things through ongoing technological innovation, development of new partnerships with customers, suppliers and subcontractors, intensive  co-operation between Imtech's maritime companies and  strategic acquisitions to strengthen both the technological and geographical position of the Imtech Marine Group.
